Medicine taught me to identify what matters, organize complex information, and make decisions with incomplete information.
Teaching added another set of questions. What does the learner already know? Where are they likely to get confused? What needs explanation? What needs practice? What should they be able to do when the experience ends?
Knowing a subject deeply does not automatically make it easy to teach.
I have worked with medical and scientific content for most of my professional life. I understand the terminology, the evidence behind it, and the way clinicians think about information. Learning design gives me a systematic way to decide how that information should be organized, taught, practiced, and assessed.
I care about accuracy. I also care about whether the learner can use what they learned.

La formación médica me enseñó a priorizar: qué va primero, qué puede esperar. La docencia me enseñó algo distinto. Saber el contenido y ayudar a alguien a aprenderlo son dos habilidades diferentes.
En educación médica veía el mismo problema una y otra vez: había conocimiento experto real, pero la enseñanza alrededor no tenía suficiente estructura. Médicos y especialistas conocían su tema a fondo. Las sesiones construidas sobre ese conocimiento no siempre ayudaban a los estudiantes a entenderlo o aplicarlo.
Esa pregunta se queda conmigo: ¿cómo mantener la precisión de un contenido complejo mientras se cambia su forma lo suficiente para que las personas puedan aprender de él?
Learning designer
Independent practice
I design learning experiences for clinical, scientific, and professional topics.
My work includes course design, microlearning, case-based learning, assessments, interactive learning, visual learning materials, and digital learning development with tools such as Articulate Rise and Storyline.
Projects often begin with dense source material, expert knowledge, or content that already exists in another format. I review the material, identify what learners need to know or do, organize the content, and design the learning experience around those decisions.
University lecturer and medical educator
I have taught medical and biomedical sciences to university students since 2016.
My teaching experience includes Medical Genetics, Pediatrics, Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Anatomy and Embryology. I have taught students at different stages of their medical education and worked with lectures, clinical cases, assessment, and simulation-based activities.
Teaching for 10 years has given me direct experience with common misconceptions, differences in prior knowledge, cognitive load, assessment decisions, and the practical limits of what learners can process at once.
Continuing medical education coordinator
I coordinated continuing medical education programs for healthcare professionals, from educational needs assessment and program design through implementation, evaluation, and revision.
I worked with faculty, subject-matter experts, institutional partners, and healthcare organizations to develop live, virtual, and hybrid programs for different professional audiences.
This gave me direct experience with the full continuing medical education cycle and with the decisions required to take a program from an identified educational need through delivery and evaluation.
Physician and pediatrician
I trained as a physician and completed my specialty in Pediatrics at Hospital Infantil Dr. Robert Reid Cabral in Santo Domingo.
My clinical training shapes how I work with medical and scientific content. I can assess the clinical relevance of source material, preserve important distinctions when simplifying complex topics, and work directly with physicians and other subject-matter experts at the level of the content.
It also informs how I design clinical learning, especially when the learner needs to interpret evidence, reason through a case, or make a decision.
